British Actress Kathryn "Kate" Bailey Beckinsale was worn on July 26, 1973 in Finsbury Park, London to Richard Beckinsale & Judy Loe. At the age of 5, Kate lost her father to a sudden massive heart attack in his sleep. She attended the independent all girls school Godolphin and Latymer. While attending school, Kate won many writers competition awards as a teen for 3 short stories and a few poems. In a few short years later, the acting bug bit Kate after her rebellious adolescence. At the age of 18, she got her first tv role in One Against the Wind which depicts a story about World War II. After her first role, Kate joined college at Oxford, studying French and Russian Literature, but she didn't finish school to earn her degree. While studying at Oxford, Kate got offered the role Hero in 1993's Much Ado About Nothing starring Emma Thompson, Keanu Reeves, and Denzel Washington which was adapted from Shakespeare's play. In 1995, Kate signed on to play Christina Mariell in Haunted , than in 1996 as Emma Woodhouse in Jane Austen's adaptation of Emma. In the next few years Kate appeared in low profile roles and stage roles. On Jan 31, 1999 Kate had a little girl named Lily Mo Sheen with then boyfriend actor Michael Sheen.
Kate got her first American movie role in Brokedown Palace as Darlene, which turned out now being a success. Then in 2001, Kate replaced Charlize Theron as the leading actress in the highest grossing file of the year Pearl Harbor. In the following years Kate appeared in a few more American films Serendipty, Underworld, and Van Helsing. While filming Underworld Kate became involved with the director Len Wiseman which later resulted with an engagement and than marriage on May 9, 2004. Later on in 2005, Kate got casted as Ava Gardner in Martin Scorsese's movie The Aviator along side Leonardo DiCaprio, Cate Blanchett, and Gwen Stefani which she had to gain 20 pounds for the part. Kate reprized her role as the lycan slaying death dealer Selene in 2006's Underworld Evolution. Kate's daughter Lily also had a small part in the film, playing a Younger Selene in flash backs. After her success in the second installment of Underworld, Kate played Adam Sandler's leading lady in the comedy Click. Her next role was Annie in 2008's Snow Angels which depict 3 peoples lives and relationships. In the next couple of years, Kate will have a busy schedule staring in movies such as Winged Creatures, Nothing But the Truth, Whiteout, and Everybody's Fine. Today Kate lives in Venice, Ca (16 miles west of LA) with her director husband Len Wiseman and remains a doting mother to her daughter Lily.
