Actress KATE BECKINSALE refuses to learn how to drive because she loves sitting in the backs of cars. The Underworld star doesn’t own a driver’s license and refuses to get behind the wheel – because that would take the fun out of car journeys.
She admits her actress mother would always strap her into the back seat of the family car and drive her for miles whenever Kate was upset as a teen – and she still finds it comforting to let someone else do the steering.

The actress tells Hollywood Life magazine, “I love to be driven… When I was a teenager and and I was miserable or things were difficult, my mom and I would pile into the car and she would drive me. I’ve always been really chilled by that.”
“(Now) I take cabs or friends drive.”

Kate Beckinsale’s ‘Underworld’ catsuit is being auctioned. The sexy, black leather all-in-one garment will be sold at Premiere Props in El Segundo, California, on February 7, with all proceeds going to the Entertainment Industry Foundation.

Other items from the ‘Underworld’ films, including a medical book, a serum vial and a serum injector are also open for bids.

Vice President of Marketing for Premiere Props Dan Levin said: “Fans and movie collectors will be truly amazed with the rare hero costumes and movie memorabilia from all three ‘Underworld’ movies that will be up for bid.”

This is not the first time fans have been able to get their hands on a piece of celebrity memorabilia. A pair of stilettos belonging to Kate Moss and Jude Law’s suit were offered in an auction for charity Breast Cancer Care last year.

Michael Jackson’s dirty underwear was offered on internet auction site eBay, as was the Union Jack-painted double decker bus featured in the Spice Girls movie.

KATE BECKINSALE and MICHAEL SHEEN’s daughter LILY has inherited acting skills from her thespian parents – she dazzled an audience of her local drama group by taking on a starring role in musical MAMMA MIA!.
The former couple’s daughter, who turns 10 later this month (Jan09), attends an after school club for budding stars and impressed an assembled crowd when she performed the lead part of Sophie in the ABBA-inspired adaptation.
But the youngster also had to take on a male role during the show – which she ended up enjoying a little too much.

Sheen tells WENN, “Lily did a production of Mamma Mia! with her local drama group before Christmas where she surprised us all by being able to sing brilliantly.

“She played Sophie – the starring role! In one performance she was Sophie and in the other one she played the guy Sophie gets married to, but because it was all girls they just cut all the boy parts.
“She had to draw a moustache on herself for the second performance and get married to Sophie – that was her favourite bit!”

But Sheen is convinced Lily won’t make the transition to Hollywood when she is older – because she prefers to be behind the camera.
He adds, “She’s a writer, she wants to write. It’s what she loves doing, so she will probably do a bit of that.”

The 35-year-old British actress – who recently played an unglamorous journalist in ‘Nothing But the Truth’ – has warned fans she looks nothing like her usual beautiful self in her next movie ‘Whiteout’.

She said: “I play a federal marshal chasing a fugitive in the Antarctic and I get horribly injured and disfigured. “If you think I look bad in prison in ‘Nothing But the Truth,’ wait until you see me in this one!”

Kate recently revealed that during the filming of ‘Nothing But the Truth’ she refused to wear protective clothing because she thought it might hamper her performance.

She said: “I’m always doing movies where I’m getting beaten up, thrown down stairs, hit with blunt objects and even set on fire. I pulled off the scenes with just a few bumps and bruises.”

Upcoming thriller ‘Whiteout’ is due to be released at the end of the year.
