
For years, Absolut vodka featured the works of famous artists and photographers in its advertising campaign. Now, the brand is turning to two actors to promote drinks made with Absolut.
Kate Beckinsale and Zooey Deschanel will be featured in Absolut ads to be introduced on Thursday at a party in New York. The ads are part of a campaign by the New York office of TBWA/Chiat/Day, part of the TBWA Worldwide unit of the Omnicom Group.
In keeping with an Absolut tradition, the ads are being photographed by a well-known fashion shutterbug, Ellen Von Unwerth.
The ads carry the theme “Every drink is an exceptional experience,” extending a recent campaign for Absolut that carries the theme “Doing things differently leads to something exceptional.”
All the ads are part of an ongoing effort to portray what TBWA/Chiat/Day calls “an Absolut world” of special, offbeat or unusual events, people and things.
Among the drinks featured in the ads are the Absolut Bloody Mary, the Absolut Cosmopolitan and the Absolut Crush (made with fresh-squeezed juice).
The ads may represent the first time that actors have appeared in an Absolut campaign. The brand, sold in this country by Pernod Ricard USA, is planning in the new year to introduce ads in collaboration with the director Spike Jonze.
